Exactly correct...Edison didn't create the lightbulb with 1000 mistakes and 1 final product. he created it in 1001 steps. Mistakes will be made. But are those mistakes worth risking if this research will some day save millions of people's lives?? Simply yes.

Re: Stemcell research

Stem cell research, I believe, is something that will happen whether people want it to or not. Humans are curious of everything, and when it involves science in this large of a scale, it will not be denied its research.

Re: Stemcell research

It's going to happen whether we want it or not. If not in the US, then in Russia, Japan, etc.
The important thing is that it's regulated..sadly, I suspect it won't be long before the research progresses to the point where stem cells are in high demand...
and if that happens, expect to see women deliberately getting knocked up so they can hock their fetuses on the black market.
It happens today (rarely thank heavens) with women who sell their babies. I expect there will be a lot more pressure to get an abortion when the docs can make more money off it. Similar to the situation today with infant circumcision, how the doctors encourage it because they sell the foreskins off to bio-tech companies to be made into skin grafts and face cream.

maybe it just i dont have a ton of knowledge on it, but i think its wrong.

its creating another HUMAN LIFE, so that it can be used to heal somebody else, most likley the clone will DIE.

say your wife has a baby, meant to die to cure some 1 else. would you like knowing that your child was born to die?

clones will be people to. you cant treat them as freaks like that.

If i'm not mistaken, the stem cells are gathered from human embryos, not live children. No child would be carried to term, be born, and then be killed to harvest stem cells.
As far as the embryos go, that is the crux of the debate: At what point does a human life begin? Some believe it begins at the moment of conception, others believe it's later when the unborn reaches the fetus stage. Of course, as with most things, religion enters into the argument and just fucks everything up.
