Re: 2 questions: hows the 240 5 speed take abuse, and how long do 240s last on averag
Quote:
Do it. I had an 89' 240 that I bought 4 years ago with 195000km on it. I was 16 at the time and bagged that thing to the brink of destruction. I mean putting the whole powertrain, suspension, brakes through some serious abuse. I sold it at 235K to a guy who drives it worse than I did. He has had no problems with it. All I replaced was tires, and the guy who had it before me replaced nothing other than regular maintenance. If you want something with some real power, and a rear end that can handle 3 times the stock horsepower, get a 240 and don't look back. What I don't understand is how someone can badmouth a real tough, fast sportscar with excellent handling, sleek exterior and well driver oriented interior like a 240, and stick up for a civic which has an interior resembling that of a neon, an exterior resembling that of a Suzuki swift, starts smoking at 200K, sounds like a lawnmower at 250 (sooner if you put an exhaust system on it, cause any exhaust system on a civic sounds horrible), and is slow unless you dump money into it. and when you start putting money into the things, you lose that reliablity that they're known for. They're economy cars, don't try to make them sports cars. 92+ preludes are pretty nice, but so overpriced. For what you pay, you could have a same year 300zx. Sure you'd pay a little more to maintain it, but that's cause it's a real sports car, with real power all through the rpms. Sure the preludes have high horsepower for the size of their engine, but that's if you don't mind waiting till redline for your v-tec to start doing something. Get something with torque, and power all the way up!!!!!!! Nissans all the way. I don't care what anyone says, I'll always back my 240 up. |

Re: 2 questions: hows the 240 5 speed take abuse, and how long do 240s last on average?
i own a prelude Si 2.3l 120k miles . it's a mess, parts fail whenever i drive cross states or long distance.
Georgia to South carolina master break cyclinder broke. 2 hrs Georgia to Alabama steering pump broke. 2 hrs Atlanta to Canton Distributor die .( 50 Min drive) bad stuff list -prelude electrical are suck, ask your local mechanic they tell you. -A/C controler fail easily, prelude 92-96 -Aligment easy mess up , install 18 wheels -Oil leaking behind the Cam next to distributor ,the Rubber thing need to replace. (experience : happen to all prelude 92-94) -Motor mount,Trans,Front Motor mount and rear Mount easy broke. If you driving engine cold without warm it up alittle two of my friends have 240sx i haven't heard any complain. One have SR engine , the other is KADE. i drove both car it was awsome . Honda are just for Ricer ... BTW i just bought two 240 coupe and HB SR engine will be swap when i get rid of my prelude |
