Good post. I agree with you all the way. There's such a huge stereotype of how people who smoke weed are. I rarely just sit around when I smoke, I usually go out and go shopping or where ever friends are head to. And the majority of smokers don't have meaningless, idiot conversations trying to interpret the number 5. Stereotypes are a bitch. And all of the falacies out there don't help either.

As a recreational substance user, the primary point I will make is that there is a difference between use and abuse. There are people every day having a quiet beer after work, and then there are alcoholics. And alcohol is completely legal. Just like there are people (most users) having a quiet line or cone after work and are still completely fine people. That's all - the majority of drug users like myself are normal and functioning members of society.

To all of you demonising/decrying drugs, to then turn around and tell me that 1. Ive never done them, 2. They messed one of my friends up and 3. Therefore, the same thing will happen to you - I'm sorry but you can all go and get fucked. I have my personal values, education and experiences and am more than capable of making an informed decision.

You tell 'em Oz. Exactly why I said stereotypes are a bitch. Everyone has the preconceived notion that people who use drugs abuse them and are complete idiots. Back when I smoked weed daily my second year of college I kept a solid 3.0 average. Some people do have slow reaction times under the influence. My roomate is a complete idiot on it, and the next day kinda slow. But he's the only one I know that is like that. Everyone else you would never know. I've been around my parents and other parents while high and they never knew a thing.

In my opinion weed should be classed as alcohol and ciggarettes are. But then again, alchohol and ciggarette are resposnisble for so much death's while weed on the other hand is responsible for none! so figure that one out!!

I have friends who are straight no-drugs and friends who need them, at the end of the day its your life. My personal belief is research and moderation can make drugs great and more plausable then earlier thought..

I hate how people generalise marijuana use to teenage punks like bill and ted. I myself work at Nandoes, and my store manager has joints to chill himself down as well as 3 other managers at the store. Hell my store owner has bought weed off people at my work, the store manager is 35 with 2kids and he smokes occasionally!!

I guess if it comes down to the pot-heads I know personally... None of them are really burnt out. It's mostly the people who go a step-further. Into Cocaine, H, Crack, or Severe Perscription Drug abuse.

there are people out there that dont belive in technology or electricity, there called Amish. Just because u dont do something because u think its wrong, doesnt exactly make your life great. It makes your life suck. Keep an open mind not a closed one. peace

I dont do any drugs or drink.. I dont really not do it for any piticular reasons other then I personaly dont like the "out of it" feeling. Like, not being in complete controll of my mind and body.
As for cig's though.. there is NO point in them... Half my family used to smoke(my moms side) and guess what.. Half my family is 6feet under. My mom is the oldest person that I know on that side of the family and she's only like 44... And saddly, she too smokes.

Thats my only rant anyway.

Also, for some reason I get pissed off when someone calls me straight-edge... As if doing drugs was such a big deal that people like me who chose not to for one reason or another need to be classified/labeled
