Re: Noise coming from my amp

Sorry but what the hell is a EL Capitan???? Who makes this POS? I did a google search and found nothing. If it is one of those crappy cheapo things from places like Jenson, Boss, or Road Authority I'd say that's where the problem is. As far as wiring goes, I can't see it so I can't say anything about it. If it lloks crappy then I am sure it needs redone. Everyone here knows that you should run good quality cable, make sure to run RCA on opposite sides of vehical from power wires, and always get a great ground spot. People do not understand the complications you can have just by ignoring these simple items especially GROUNDS!

Re: Noise coming from my amp

LOL I have no idea ponchonutty. When I bought the car, the previous owner had it installed and I just never took it out.

Anyways, this is when I did today. I opened up the amp to look to see if something burnt that I could spot but no luck. Everything looked fine. However, in the process I fell in the car and the ground and the power wires touched which led to the ever-loving flying sparks. I also noticed that the power wire connection to the amp was pretty crappy for I went to the store and bought some new "butts" (whatever they're called) and a new fuse (the sparks contact broke one of the fuse). So I changed everything and when I tried the system, the sub was kickin' louder than it did before. When the base comes on, it works well but if it's just music then the sub isn't too "great." Is that how it's supposed to be? Hehe I still don't know much about this stereo stuff.

Re: Noise coming from my amp

It's my understanding an amp filters out all the highs and supplies the sub with all that wonderful bass. So yeah...sounds about right to me.
