Cool replacing rear brakes 4for my 95 gt

hi, e1 my name is randy,im new here so forgive me if i make any mistakes. i just bought a 95 gt conv. its super but it needs a rear brake job i already bought new rotors & pads is there anything speacil about ford abs brakes i should know? i haven"t done a brake job in years, (never w/ abs) . thanking you in advance for any advice. randy.

Re: replacing rear brakes 4for my 95 gt

When you go to pump up the brakes DO NOT push the pedal to the floor. Just barely push the pedal, very short and rapid. Otherwise you will be replacing a master cylinder too.

thank you but iwas wondering if there was more to it? someone menthioned somthing about turning the caliper?

Turning the caliper? Nothing about a caliper to turn lol. Just have to re-compress the piston in the caliper to slide it back over the rotor with the new brake pads. But it is good to turn your rotors even though they are bran new, they are probably still warped.
Turn rotors, compress calipers, lube pads with dielectric grease where they touch the calipers, pump brakes, test drive.
You should be fine, this is routine, good luck!

Ya I think you may have to screw it back in. Should be able to get a tool to do it with at a parts store.

Most Rear ABS brake systems you need to turn the the piston back into the caliper cause of the emergency bvrake set-up unless it has a 2 brake set-up like a jeep or others. The tool is available at ya local parts store for like $10.
