Angry 1997 caravan cooling fan

I have a '97 caravan with a 3.3l. The cooling fan won't come on and the motor overheats.I put in a new fan relay today, still doesn't work.Took out the thermostat and it was not open, replaced that still no friggin' fan.what is the problem with this thing. the dealer told me it was a bad relay, but that doesn't seem to be the case since I replaced it!

Apply 12V directly to the fan(s) and see if they work. If not, you need to replace the fan motors. Your problem could also be a bad ground.

Also check/replace the fuse or circuit breaker.

The fan gets its ground by a separate lug off the wiring harness under the vehicle. Look under the vehicle around the front engine mount and look for a loose black wire. If all else fails, splice a new ground from the fan connector to the battery - or engine ground.

I had a similar problem and it turned out that the fan had overheated, and the hub distorted enough that it jammed and would no longer turn.

Make sure the fan spins freely but be very careful so that you don't lose a finger in the process.

I replaced mine on my 97 with the same condition. If i remember correctly its either under the air filter box or It's on the inside of the fender on the driver's side. It is a flat square thing about 2 inches square. You will need a 10mm and 8mm socket and a flat-blade screwdriver.

I had the same problem and had to swap the thermo switch (located under battery tray on fenderwell) and the switch connector. The switch was a dealer only part (around $60) the connector a $2 junk yard part. Fan works great. Now I am dealing with a warm air AC issue. Got to love Mopar electronics. ;-)
