Re: Just bought new headers wtf is this loud noise??
Ziggymidget5, i have never installed a header myself, hah, im just drivin around in my jeep for now.
But what i can tell you is that my wrangler is a very un-soundproofed vehicle. And anytime that the revs are between about 1500 and 2500, the whole car resonates with the engine. The only thing I can think of is maybe the header has a resonation that just works with your engine that way. Oh yeah, also I'd check and make sure something isnt loose on the engine side of the header. It's quite possible that a exhaust valve or something got loose while you were installing the header, and is now vibrating around. That might also explain why it goes away at higher rpm's; the valve would have more up/down inertia and therefore less ability to knock around. just my ![]() You did say it was kind of a 'hollow' sound. Also, why did you have to replace the header?

Re: Just bought new headers wtf is this loud noise??
He replaced it because it opens more space for the gas to flow through...he obviously plans on adding more power, therefore making more air flow, therefore giving the need for more room to flow, that or he wants it to look good I dont know

Re: Just bought new headers wtf is this loud noise??
I just replaced it for more power, along with the hi-flow cat, cause I wasn't gonna mess around with old exhaust bolts like I did for my cat-back. I replaced the gasket and I cleared away any loose debris in the exhaust ports. I'm pretty sure I'm replacing cams, springs, retainers, and cam gears soon, so I'll probably check it out again. Also, Xteme 098, idk if you were talking to me about the Skunk2 cat-back, but I love the sound of the 5zigen. I don't know why more people don't recommend it, low rumble, relatively quiet (I think my CAI is much more noticeable), good looks, but you can still tell it's there sound wise. I've heard the Skunk2's are also good, but if you're going for a little quieter, I'd definitely recommend the 5zigen.
