One piece oil pan gasket
I am in the process of replacing my oil pan gasket w/ a one piece rubber one. However I am unsure what to get. Summit carries both a flat syle and a ribbed style gasket. The oil pan I'm using is from CHP(to clear the girdle), its a 7 qt. Pro Mustang gold irridite. Its partially ribbed(like passing lane lines in the road) all the way down the rails. So I'm not sure which one to use, flat or ribbed gasket. I talked to Mike Capp at CHP an he said it doesnt matter, that both would work fine but I'm just not sure. I know its kind of a thinker, but any help would be great! I really dont want to have to do this again, its such a pain in the ass!!!

We always used flat style on the Canton oil pans at my work.

Re: One piece oil pan gasket
I've had success with both styles. Hard to say which I prefer. Just put a oil pan on a 350 last night, but we used a 4 peice gasket. I'd say ribbed just because I think they hold RTV better. But its up to you. Just start in the middle and work your way out, never had a leak like that on oil pans, valve covers, ect. Go easy on the RTV though, too much will cause a leak. Replaced cam seals in a toyota today because someone got happy with the silicone.
