I've seen fast Stealths that hold together, and the Stealth is the 3000GT's brother-in-law.

As flywsi said, there are documented cases of plenty of electrical gremlins (when you have electronically adjustable exhaust note and active bodywork, that's just begging for shorts and blown fuses if you ask me) and the clutches are a known weak point. Also, as has been stated numerous times, they're obscenely heavy.

That being said, the 3000GT and (to me) its prettier Stealth brother is a very good car for cruising down the highway in and a fast cruiser at that. There's quite a bit of tuning potential, albeit less than the comparable cars in its class (C4 Corvettes, MkIV Supras, FD3S RX-7's, Z32 300ZX, non-turbo Porsche 911's, and E36 BMW M3's). If it is the car you want, then you shouldn't have to worry too much about performance potential as that is there. But if you're just cross shopping the option, then you'd be well advised to look into the other cars I've mentioned.

Here in New Zealand we have the JDM version which is the GTO. They are very stable on the road i will give them that. But since we also have shit loads of Supra's, EVO's, WRX's, GTR's and other skylines, 300ZX's they are not as sought after or considered a potent weapon.

There are some here that go very well, I'll give them that. On the roads they hold their own pretty well when modified enough. In stock trim though they are anything but impressive, even the turbo charged ones. That as mentioned is due to their weight. Also aftermarket parts are not as aboundant either.

The quickest one I've seen runs high 11's to low 12's. It is also pushing over 500hp to achieve this. They are few and far between though. Last I seen there were only a hand full in the 12's at all, most are in the 13's. There gearboxes just don't like lauches at all, so most don't bother, not to mention having to run quite a heavy clutch to handle it.

All in all they are or would make a very good street weapon for sure. In the hands of a good driver mind you.

i beleive i launched 5500rpm take offs quite a few times before it EVER went out(the clutch) but once power is added to it, well at least for the 1st gen it doesn't hold, but with a clutch upgrade its all dandy. they are very easily put into the 12 sec 1/4miles. stock they are monsters, lots of upgrades, underdrive pulleys to flywheel to intercoolers to turbo's and bc's, bpu's put them in the 12's easy its the 11's were they slow down. and so very very hard to put them into the 10's, and never put into the 9's to my knowledge. vr4's on the street run with all the other big boys mentioned above, if not faster than some. like the 300zxtt and the rx-7. yes its heavy like the trans am ram air. but like the ram air it still hauls ass!

sounds nice
