When I bought my 91 for $2900 it had 192K miles, mechanically excellent, perfect body and decent interior. The maintenance record was things like alternator, water pump, and clutch; all installed within 10K miles of when I bought it. It had no suspicious ticks or rattles from in the engine and used no oil. Hell, the oil was still gold at the 3K mile change interval. Now with 226K on it nothing has changed. I changed the clutch master/slave cylinders, brake pads, oil and spark plugs since I bought it. The AC is original, never been charged and still blows cold.
I've got a test pipe in place of the catalytic converter, unbaffled muffler, S-AFC w/ ignition and fuel tuning, and striped behind the front seats (- 150 lbs, roughly; it weighted 2800 even before stripping and with stock exhaust). It pulls low 15s consistently. Next pay check I'll buy JWT S1 cam, adj. sprockets, new timing chain, and re-shim; paycheck after that is custom short intake w/ relocated battery, wide band EGO w/ A:F gauge, pyrometer, and JWT header. I'll enjoy that for a while until I'm able to get a big trim T28 or T3.
BTW: on my car, after installing the AFC I noticed the stock tach reads about 500 rpm HIGHER than the digital readout on the AFC; revlimiter engages at about 6950 rpm by the AFC reading. Anybody else notice this on their 240SX?
