Ka24de ?

i'm thinking about getting a 240sx, but i'm curious where can i get a KA24DE that isn't over 80k mileage?

Also i'm using the 240sx as a daily driving vehicle, so would it be a good idea to add a supercharger to it?

Thnx

Tugg

Supercharger isn't impossible, Actualy less work goes into it than a turbo install. I plan on Supercharging my KA =\

If you're a total n00b you dont need to be worrying about making your car go faster, you need to be doing research first...

How much money do you want to spend? Just because there isn't a kit doesn't mean it can't be done. If you Turbo it for daily driving you're going to need to give it a LOT of attention, if you're pretty new to the automotive scene I wouldn't advise it- Unless you're rich and can pay the mechanic bills.

Learn to drive it and Fix all of the cars mechanical problems before you start moding it out. Again, how much money do you want to spend on it?

Re: Ka24de ?

i planned to spend around 2k in the beggining, then slowly add on maybe once a month- once every 2 months. I decided to use the original car engine till it dies out.

Re: Ka24de ?

if you plan to use an 80k engine till it dies....good luck...going to take you several years(like 7-9) for you to do anything with the internals of the car....

A guy here in Waco has 6 KA24DEs w/ transmissions / complete except for the cut hoses and harness, all about 80K miles, $100 each, delivery extra. The reason, he said, is that the KA24DE will go about 400K miles without a majar overhaul if its properly maintained. The only things you need to replace ever are the accessories, timing chain, valve shims, and electronics. Though these things can cost more than a whole engine and transmission from a salvage dealer, they're less labor intensive than changing the entire engine; not to mention the fact that the used engine may have the same problems.

The moral to this tale is that unless you just want years of trouble free service from your car you should just keep the engine thats in it, tune it up and fix minor things as they come along.
