Re: Newbie to tegy's

I don't know how relivant this is, but you can run about 6-7 PSI on an engine without an Intercooler. Anything after that you will need on. There is also one supercharger that uses an intercooler type device and that is the aftercooler that a Vortech supercharger uses.

Re: Newbie to tegy's

Would a turbo LS beat a GSR? and How much is it for a turbo kit and installation?

Depending on how many psi you run. Yes. Like I said above a stock ls motor can handle 12 psi of boost (properly tuned), that will get you quite a bit faster than a gsr. even 8-10 psi would get you faster than a gsr I believe. As far as prices go, you can get kits for less than $3000. I think you can even find kits w/o intercoolers for just over 2k if you shop right. Personally I would go with a custom one, but the kits are pretty good to. I don't know how much installation is, but I have herd that it isn't that hard to do, if you wanted to tackle the project.

Yes a blown LS will beat a slightly modded GSR with equal drivers. But I would advise the Vortech if you are planning on going the supercharger route. The vortech is a centrifugal supercharger as were the JRSC is a roots supercharger, the roots style superchargers are not real efficient on small displacement motors.

I don't know... I'd prefer a turbo, he had just been right about so many other things I figured he knew what he was talking about when he recommended the SC... JRSC I thought boasted much more than 165 WHP... I mean I must have atleast that (not WHP but ... umm what ever the lower would be lol) ...
