daaaamn, si's suck huh

about the gsr vs ls --> this saturday im racing a 93 teg ls with cams, intake, exhaust, and clutch in the 1320

and this torque argument is silly, ive taken vw's with 50 more torque than me, not to mention a spec v, and an 80 somethign firebird with the crappy v8 (not the 350)

Re: ls integra vs 98 civic si

I think as far as HP and TQ ar concerned, sure it is good to have more that the other guy, But i think weight and gearing and especially the driver have a lot more to doo with it than a lot of people realize. But thats just me.

did u raced the vw with 50 lbs more torque from a stand still? that thing should definately have u at the begining and middle of the race unless the diver can't drive.

everything has to be considered such as hp, tq, weight, gearing, driver abilities, even insignificant things added up such as tire pressure, gas octane, how old the motor is since it can decrease compression can also effect the outcome.

95 jetta glx vr6 (my roomates) we both had a little wheelspin, stayed together in first and then i started to gain in second, the car length i gained in my short second gear, i maintained to 90 which is my redline in third and then i shut down.

my torque : 128 at waaay high
his torque : 173 at down low
spev v torque : 180 @ 4400 (didnt help him either)

i beat a spec v pretty damn bad from a drop , but i know it wouldve been closer from a stop ... he was pullin on me for about 1 second untill i riped right by ... i have a friend with a newer jetta vr6 that says he can beat me , i think he would have a hell of a chance if i was stock , but he dont know im not stock any more, well exept for my visible tail pipe .... CAI/H/E ,IM, jdm itr cams , to list a few

maybe your buddy can't drive too well or your a dam good driver, an old buddy of mine gots a spec-v with intake and header while his brother gots a gsr with intake. usually its a close race but the gsr always has to play catch up. i driven his spec-v and i got say it was pretty quick although im not into its exterior styling.

crippy, you should definetly take your car to the track and get some slips, my gf was in the car when i raced the spec v.. so thats like another 110 lbs in my car, heres the story when i wrote about it a while back...

i own a 96 gsr with aem cai and greddy sp, i think it was stock but one day this spec v was tailing me up until the lane opened up into two and he pulled up on the side of me at which point we were lined up at a red light. the light turned green, we both floor it about 80-90 he was a good car length behind....

and in no way did i play catch up, i remember watching his wheel spin and feeling mine spin and they both caught at the same time and we stayed side by side, i just kind of walked slowly away

now that i think about it, i have never played catch up with another car, i always stay right on the side of them through my whole first gear, and then begin to pull when i shift into second, the weird part is, it is always the same thing, it happened to the vr6, the spec v, like a 99 altima auto, and the firebird

Re: ls integra vs 98 civic si

im not going to doubt your story since you seem like an honest person and i have driven both gsr and spec-v so i know how they both accelerate, but like i said it could be the drivers.

we're kinda going off topic but since u brought up these story i too just want to say i've beaten a 90's 300zx nonturbo, supposedly that thing should have smoke me (well that waht i thought), but anyways i was pulling on him by like 1/3 of a car length from a short distance until i had to enter the freeway on ramp. yes, he was racing since i heard his tires squeeling before i step on the gas, so afterwards i was pretty happy and really surprised. later on i figured maybe i didn't beat the car but the driver. if i see the 300zx again, i will definately want to race again.
