ls integra vs 98 civic si

my g/f just bought a 98 si civic , and a friend of mine has been talking shit to her about how his teg would beat it cause he thinks civics are inferior to tegs ... ive already spanked him pretty bad in my gsr , and her car feels like it has some balls when i get on it ( she wont let me really get on it) ... she wont race it or let me race it so this will prolly never happen ... i just wanted to know what you guys think would happen ....both are bone stock

Are you in the US or Canada, because in the US, Si's weren't produced in '98. If you're in Canada, the Si would be the same thing as the USDM Ex, 127hp SOHC-VTEC. If your case is the latter, the teg will definitely take it, stock for stock that is. If it's got a b16a, it should be close, driver's race.

A GSR will kill it and a lightly modded LS will take it as well. Stock for stock it is in the Si's favor but not by much.

LS Curb Weight: 2639
LS Power-to-Weight: 0.0531

Si Curb Weight: 2606
Si Power-to-Weight: 0.0614

The SI has more horsepower, the SI is lighter, and the SI has much better gear ratios for quick acceleration. How do you figure a LS will take it.

Also, the LS 0-60 is rated at 8.8 seconds, vs. the Si's 7.4. I don't know about you, but I don't think a CAI and a catback is going to make you 1.4 seconds quicker to 60.

The power to weight ratio is in the Si's favor but at a really high rpm. The Si, unlike the GSR, does not have much of any tq. The tq that the LS makes at a much lower rpm will put it far enough ahead that the Si will not catch up. At the local track here the best time I have ever seem from a N/A Si is 15.8 and he had I/H/C/E and V-AFC. And the common time for an LS with I/H/E is 15.5 -15.2. They really have no potential IMHO, unless you go boost or all out N/A,

Where the hell did you find that info? The LS 0-60 is no where near that time, try taking off a second. I have an auto with just an intake and its 0-60 is 7.9, even call it 8.

That is for the 86 integra LS.

The LS is a 7.6 0-60 car. The GSR is a 7.1 0-60 car and the 93 GSR is a 6.4 0-60 car.

Well I have a friend with a 2001 Si, with intake, and I have a friend with a 97 ls, that has intake as well. They are both = driver, and my buddy with the ls beat the si by a little over a car legnth. It is true that the si has more horse power, but they have crap for torque. Plus the ls is has a strong bottom end (as far as civics and integras go). Ls's have been known to pull on gsr's in 1st and 2nd gear, but the gsr easily overtakes the ls once he hits 3rd. As for the si, most of the time by 3rd gear they start to gain, but by the end they usually end up about even. So really it would be a drivers race. I am willing to bet that stock for stock, ls's probably come out on top more times than not.

Re: ls integra vs 98 civic si

seems to me like people think that just because it has more hp that its going to automatically win , maybe next time they should also add in torque to the equation.

i personally have driven my friend's si and honestly, i wasn't impressed. no torque in the lower rpms and once it finally hit vtec i hardly notice the pull until 3rd gear during vtec.

heres another another story, another one of my friend has a 1990 ls with home made intake , he raced against the same stock si and and the si won by like a 1/2-1 car length. but to defend the ls' lost, that thing had 310,000 miles on it, probabaly a slipping clutch, and only has 130 hp due to the year that it was made in.

my conclusion, it's basically a drivers race, but most of the time i would put my money on the ls.
