Re: bone stock 04 comp g 1/4 times
Well the first slip was my first time on the strip like that so the guy coaching me maybe was easy on me and the car, it was with the day to day setup except the GAS mix. The second run was better. I made a 100+ pass and I felt confident. That TS I am still not finding. At the third hit I changed the gas mix, more klots 115 than 93 and installed the 2.8" thrasher pulley. Car idled normally. During the hit after 1000' it felt funny, picked up really strong on the upper 4000+ rpm band and as soon as leaving the trap started the strong cliking sound. SES and hesitation. SES was a miss on 5. Took spark out and the gap was 0. Later I learned that pistons 3 and 5 had lost their border and the broken clicking sound was the debri inside the cyl. This debri did not messed the cyl but messed up the valves. I am working to get the car again on the road and add more stuff to make the 2.8" a valuable tool(not for destroying the engine) on the track.
And the images I have are far better than the ones posted but they are to big. The treshold for this site is 80k and mine are around 450k. To be honest the strip does not cut it. All the hassle with the lights and how to get the car out of the starting line, heating the tires at the water box, wait 1+ hours to be on it just 20 seconds? The circuit is more fun, twists & turns. Racing other people and even tought you got to wait 1+ hour to get on the track you spend from 20 to 30 mins on each run. And is harder to break the car at least my first time on the circuit nothing major broke, just spark plug cable 4 burned because of the broken exahust manifold. |

The only way you could run the 2.8 is if you have an intercooler

What I have are Champions 408CP(Same as Autolites 104 but with copper heads), OEM GAP, MSD 8.5mm spark plug cables, DHP V1.0 PCM(ECU), 2.93 axle, SLP Headers 3", 3.4" thrasher pulley(2.8" when the pistons broke), 180 degf tstat, Thrasher CAI, 9" K&N Cone Filter, TB Screen removed, that is about it. Nothing major inside the tranny or engine originally cause they were under waranty. Now GM will leave the core and the engine just have pistons broken so I am planning to install Intense Rockers, Intense Diamond Coated Pistons, Stage 2 CAM, The intercooler that I designed and rectify the heads and install oversize valves. That is what I am thinking about the core they are leaving here. And with that I will install the intense shifter kit on the tranny. Was thinking about a 2000rpm converter but that is an overkill. It is used just for drag is not practical. |
