Re: 93 Escort 1.9L

Not sure about the '93, but my '97 brake light is for the hand brake AND a malfunction in the main braking circuit. May just need to go by the book and properly bleed the brakes. Most brake systems have a valve in the master cylinder or brake line junction block that gets out of place from brake malfunction OR inproper bleeding.

rear brakes need ajusting?

135k, might be time to check to see if they still touch the drums, if you have drums in the rear.

Re: 93 Escort 1.9L

Low brake fluid is also a good indicator of worn brake pads. As the pads wear, the fluid is displaced from the reservoir into the caliper cylinders. Now is a good time to check your brake linings.

Re: 93 Escort 1.9L

go ahead and upgrade to the GT calpers in the rear and get rid of those drums... new pads and everything and lines should do nicely too... if your going to do it do it right!
