I'll let you know when I actually finish a kit
On a serious note though, I'll probably end up building some form of display cabinet myself. Afterall, building a wooden box with a glass front is hardly the hardest thing to do in the world. I'll post some pics once I've done it too. |

Don't know if anyone else does this, but I drape a sheet of Cling-wrap over my models to protect them from dust.

Here is how I display mine:
This was self build back in 1990: This is from IKEA for my 1:8 and 1:12: Tis is from IKEA too: The Modells are well prevented from dust behind the Glass. The IKEA Vitrines are worth the money and they are less expensive then the professionell vitrines.

I haven't done it myself because I have no need, but I did make a similar box to hold the coolant for my water cooled pc.

That Bertby case displayed above is what I have too. It has glass shelves and can fit 2 1/24-1/25 scale models on each shelf. It's a wall-mount unit and the light in the top is optional.

Re: How do you display yours?
Murray. I tried previously to make the display cases from plexi glass before. Even with professional tools at the workshop, cutting a clean 45 degree angle on the edges are really difficult. Adding to this using Dichloro Methane to stick the edges together was not 100% clean, that's just my unsucessful experiences. I gave up after a while, and just settled for the individual display cases tamiya make, Type C. Reasonably priced, good size, and a good clear finish. I have been using these for a little time now, but how do you guys stick ur finished model to the base of the display case??

Yeah, beveling the edges of plexi sheets seems like it would be a quick route to insanity. A better idea would be to cut all edges to 90 deg, and cut one side a bit long. Sand and polish the edges, and the glue seams shouldn't be too intrusive. This is how aquariums are done.
