Yeah, I have a gas guzzler already lol (79 TA). But, at least the insurance would be lower with a muscle car.

The muscle car I want is actually a little cheaper than '99 Tiburon.

The '69 Chevelle was $6,900 where the '99 Tiburon was $9,000

So.... If I can get more power for cheaper, shouldn't I do that :P

Re: How Good Is The Tibby??

Your talking apples and oranges. If it were me I would have both. However, if I could only have one car and it had to be my "reliable" transportation all year round, then I would go with the low miles tiburon. Muscle cars are good if they are well-maintained, not rusting to hell, and you actually know how to work on them. I have been thinking of getting a muscle car to turn into a drag strip only machine. I want to be able to do 11's at least. I am thinking Camaro with a 502 goodwrench and a holley 4 barrel.

A pretty car that needs a stronger engine....

The 03-04 Tiburon has the same basic V-6 that my wife's 03 Sonata has. Having test-driven a couple, they are more of an interstate GT than a hot rod.

All Hyundai needs to do is develop and drop in a more high-performance V-6 and they are perfectly capable of doing that. Both Nissan and Honda have developed similar-sized but much more powerful V-6's for their Altima and Accord coupes. Sure, the Tib weighs 3,000 lbs but just drop in a V-6 that develops 250-300 HP, add a limited slip differential and you'd have a killer of a GT.

The basic 03-04 chassis, gearbox, brakes, and tires are all set for a more potent motor. Believe me, if you've driven one, all that weight handles beautifully.

The Tiburon is still one of the cars on my wishlist but it needs a motor with more ooomph. D**M the louzy gas mileage, full speed ahead!
