95 ford escort not running good?

My escort was acting up again.. chugging, losing power etc.. etc.. I had replace the plugs and wires within the last year.. Bought the stuff from discount auto parts. Finally I gave up and had it towed into a well known mechanic who has a reputation for "NOT" ripping people off... After scratching my head for a month and trying everything I could think of, I towed it in... The policy there is they charge $50 bucks to look at the car and tell you exactly whats wrong with it and what needs to be fixed.. Later that day I got the phone call... As you all know, that phone call gives you the same feeling as if a doctor was calling you to give you the results of a cancer test or something like that.. hahaha anyway, I get the call and brace myself for the worse.. The guy says we check the car out and you need........... drum roll please............. new spark plug wires.... HUH????? That was it?????... YUP, the one thing I did not check or replace was the wires because I had replaced them not to long ago.. He asked me where I bought them from and he said "that figures".. Told me not to buy from discount places like discount auto parts or autozone etc.. said one of the good places to buy from was bennett auto supply, so thats were I will be getting my stuff from.. Told me the #2 and #3 cylinder was miss fioring and the #4 was weak.. all from a cheap set of fairly new spark pug wires.. Car runs like a champ now..

The guy could have told me anything and ripped me off big time. Good honest mechanic are as hard to find as a good honest used car salesman..

Also, don't rule out the simple things like I did..

yeah same here, autozone, bosch premium wires and plugs, works fine, its when you buy the crap brand for like 7 bucks for a set of wires, thats your problem, I buy the bosch premium for $65. works great. but glad to hear you fixed it, might just need to get better brands.

Well of course it doesn't matter where you get the name brands like bosch, but its other parts like wires, etc.. I would still shop at autozone and discount auto for other things, but I'll stick to bennet for stuff like water pumps, starters, wires, etc.. JMO
