just got 77 shell what to do with ti?

ok i just got a 77 nova had a 350 in it but its out now body is in great shap just need paint. i plan on makeing it a race/dalydriver. im wonderign what to do with it. ever oen tells me 502 and a hella lot of spray. but 502 is to much and gas gusler. so im thinkign 350 and spray. your imputs pleas thanx

How much are you willing to spend? How much racing will you be doing? Organized racing or just weekend fun? The 350's affordable, and a lot cheaper to build and run. How fast did you want to go?

dude no question 383 stroker torque fight tranny fuel cell (to lighten the car) frame connectors slicks can you say 11's in the 1/4 mile anyway whatever you do have fun afterall that the whole point

383 for shure

Get a 350 block and make it a 383 stoker. The only difference is its a 400 crank and longer rods and smaller pistons. I just rebuilt my motor in my 76 and made it a 355 (350 bored 30 over) and i wish i would have made it a 383 really bad. Everyone told me they are less dependable and they slightly are but the hp boost is deffenitly worth it and even just a 350 needs work from time to time. I put vortec heads on mine deffinetley helped. for shure get aftermarket heads and vortec are fairly cheap for as good as they are. mine cost 400 but they are kinda of going up in price around 500 i last looked. the 383 is awsome because you can get 450 hp out of them easy and they are still light becase they are a sb. I agree with A1. It all depends on how fast you wanna go and how much you wanna spend. You said it had a 350 in it but its out. DO you still HAVE the 350? Or was it out when you recieved the car? If you have a 350 block already, I would make it a 385 stroker motor (bored .40 over instead of .30 over, like a 383) just to be a little different. You need to make sure you get the right piston/head combination because you dont want your compression to shoot way up where you havge to use race gas. If you are buying a motor outright, I would PERSONALLY go with a bigblock, because its my opinion that there is no substitute for cubic inches.. You can drop a stock 454 in your car, get decent gas mileage (12-14 mpg) and you will still be running head up with stoker motors, at about the same cost. I have a 461 im my 69 vette(454 .40 over shown at bottom of screen) and just recently hooked up my nova's 350 to a 385 stroker, and as much as i hate to say it(im a nova lover) The vette will leave the nova standing and i have about the same amount of money in each drivetrain and getting very similar gas mileage(around 8-9 MPG). So its all presonal preference. Some people are hardcore smallblock guys, and some prefer big blocks. It all goes back to the first sentence. Depends on how fast you wanna go and how much one wanna spend. Just remember one thing while you are doing this. There is ALWAYS something out there faster....
