In the 8G (8th generation body style 99-03) galant there have been several swap attemps. Some successful and some not. I know you can swap a 4g63 (lancer motor) into the 8G if you have a 4 cylinder with minimal modifying. If you have a 6 cylinder you will have to buy a non all wheel drive transmission of the 4g6- type. It has been assumed that any 4g6blank or 6g7blank engine will bolt up to any 4g6blank or 6g7blank transmission. There have been a few JDM VR-4 motor swap attemps but the price to mod the USDM (american) galant to where the motor mounts and fits makes it unappealing to the average person and only done once or twice. You might just be better off swaping in a low mile factory engine and super charging it. The super charger is pricey, 6K, but gives you more HP than any motor you can swap into the 8G. Hope this helped you out some.
