Progress: First Models - Wide-Arch R-33 and Xsara (Pics)

Fujimi R33 and Hellar Xsara.

I am a n00b at this, these are my first models. Im 13 years old and i cant paint for my life really; my hands are more wobbly than a 100 years olds legs. But i try hard to get clean detail on. But saying that i have made the R33 arches wider and i think they worked quite well to a good effect. The only problem is now the wheels are too swollowed up by the arches so im waitin for deep dishes off HLJ. Anyway heres some pics.

And the Hellar Xsara it the WRC one but i wanted it to be a road car, its had one base coat of French blue but still needs more work.

Can i have some feedback please on these, constructive critism is welcome. Also what colour do you think i should spray the R33?

Thanx for the compliments. Yeah i was thinking of either Red (you can see the colour the plastic was molded in), Black or Yellow. Maybe, just maybe i might buy a decal maker. Add some unique-ness to the designs.

Re: First Models: Wide-Arch R-33 and Xsara

Don't paint it yellow: it's a difficult color, with poor coverage...
As it seems, great job you've done! The Xsara just needs its lights and black touches everywhere (windows, panel lines, whippers...), and the r33 a little amount of putty+sanding on the arches... but the result "as it is" is quite impressive!

Re: First Models: Wide-Arch R-33 and Xsara

Yeah, they both are not finished yet.

As you say the Xsara needs the lights, windows, filling of holes on the roof and so on. The R-33 needs filling in the arches where i have cut them and all the interior needs finishing. Im waiting for some wheels off of HLJ and i need to get some putty. But thanks for all the positive comments on these. Makes the time i put into them feel worthwhile.

Re: First Models: Wide-Arch R-33 and Xsara

look good so far.

on the Xsara:
I would open the vent on the hood, and put some mesh.. that would give a better look.

On both car, don't forget to plaint the windows Trim. Lot of new modeller don't and there kit look like a "toy". take your time, and you will be happy with the look.

Panel line would be great, but if you don't have Gundam Marker, it could be difficult so you can wait a bit for that

also you tell you painted the Xsara, then you say you need to fill the hole. You need to fill holes before painting, else you will never get a good finish.

Color to avoid for a newbee: Yellow, Gray and pearl color. Stick with tamiya and everything will be fine beside those color

I never thought of cutting the hood, it's a good idea, thanx. But what mest would i use? Also i dont know about panel lining so im gonna have to look that up on the tutorials and so on. And about the roof. Im gunna have to scrape some of the paint off with a knife, no biggie. Its just my dad thought it was ready to spray so he did it whilst i was at school.
