Re: Who would win: '04 SRT-4 Vs. Mustang Mach 1

A bone stock Mach 1 is an easy mid-thirteen second car in the hands of a good driver all day long. There has to be a thousand people in here that have seen this as I have seen it several times.

I KNOW that this car can run a 13.4 second quarter mile bone stock on factory rubber as I have seen them do it. And, there could well be a couple more ticks left in it than that if temp and humidity were better or if it was on a stickier track...lots of variables. But, I can vouch for seeing them do 13.4's and they seem to like the 105mph number too.

I will say right now that 109 mph is high for a 13.4 sec time slip, and would indicate that there is more room for improvement in e.t. left in the car. When you indicate a car has a 109 mph trap speed you are really saying "My car can run low 12's high 13's" And frankly, the only thing more ridiculous than the idea that a stock Neon SRT4 is a mid thirteen second car rock stock is that it is a low thirteen second car rock stock.

The SRT4 is cool enough, and a bang for the buck wonder. But good lord, at this rate the rumour mill will be having the thing hunting down Vanquish's and Modena's within the year. I have never seen or heard of a SRT4 ever running better than a very high 13 second quarter....And honestly, I only heard that, didn't see it, as I have never personally seen one break out of the 14.0's stock on factory rubber.

A bone stock 99-up Mustang GT will pull a high thirteen second quarter at the track, and I know I am not the only one who has seen that done. Also, if SRT4's are dynoing at 240hp that has to be an at the crank rating as 240rwhp means a bit over 280hp at the crank with a 17% correction. And, I have seen a LOT of cars dynoed. I can buy 240 at the crank. But there is no way that car rolls 240 at the wheels stock.

Re: Who would win: '04 SRT-4 Vs. Mustang Mach 1

give them time to learn the car and then let them run it again you'll see alot more 13.6-13.8's

if they avoid the burn out box of course you can spin down the track no problem :oP

The Mach 1 would mertlize it. Most Mach 1's are dynoing at 285 rwhp/300+ lbft. They ain't no joke. BTW the Mach 1's w/ a stick shift run mid to low 13's. Add to that their reinforced internals, and you know that they can be boosted like the SRT-4. The SRT-4 is alot cheaper though, so there really isn't a comparison. On the track the SRT-4 probably handles better, but the torque isn't there down low. IMO the Mach 1 is comparable to the LS1, although the lS1 probably responds better to mods.

I use to own a 98 Cobra, and I can tell you that it wasn't a handling car, by any means. Of course powering out of turns was easy, as with any car w/ a decent suspension, and alot of torque. I actually think my 2000 Z28 handles better then my former Cobra, but tht is primarily due to the body roll in the Cobra scaring me through the turns.

well i dont know about the older mustangs, but the 99+ ones did handle a little better than the 98+ camaros, and the svt mustangs with the independent rear should definately out handle the camaro.

I really don't think that IRS's are all they are made out to be. BTW have you heard of the 1LE option available on LT1/LS1 powered cars OonismoO. You should check it out. Most LS1's don't have that option.

I own a srt-4 I lost to a mach 1 two weeks ago. I have yet to lose to a GT I even beat one with exhaust and No spare tire or seats.(Barely). As fas as some of the other cars Evo I've beaten,(terrible driver) Cobra no tracktion then he figured it out how to launch better and beat me twice. STI I have yet to race all the owners I've met say "I won race I can beat you in the twists." Oh well Wrx please, Great car great launch but thats it. I've beaten two that mention a stage 3 something anothers. Time slips well I have two around here somewhere. My first time to track with car stock I ran 14.2 at 102. I let about 10psi out of tires ant ran 13.9 at 102 with 1.97 60ft. I know how to drive but only been to track twice I plan on only doing track next year. I believe $ for $ is just another excuse for losing. My neighbor bought old camaro for $2800 and threw $9000 in it and he races bikes runs high 10's when he squeezes. If I lose I lose weather it be a ford pinto with svo turbo engine in it, yes this happened ONCE, Or a '03 amg e55. which I've seen hand modded cobra's there ass stock. I race, enjoy racing, and respect other racers.

I was looking for a SRT-4 message board and ran across this thread that I thought was interesting. I have an '03 SRT and have the Stage 1 kit, Blow off valve, 8.5 wires, and AEM intake. With that said here are the list of cars I've beaten in straight head to head races with equally talented drivers. Roush Mustang, 350Z, Boxter S, '02 Z-28, '03 RSX, '04 Mustang GT, WRX (Don't know the year), and a '69 Camaro SS with a decked out 350. I've also smoked countless Civics and Integras out on the street. I'll be getting the Stage 2 kit and 3" Exhaust within the next month or so. After that I'm gonna race my boss in his '00 Viper. I'll let you know how that goes!!
