Id LOVE to have this little gem to restore...

It looks like it'd be kinda fun!

Re: I'm not a very big import fan, but still...

Becoming quite a sought after car by VW enthusists. Will be a classic,in time.

I'm not usually big on domestics, but ab '59 Caddy Convertible would look good on me.

Some farmer out here has a mint early 80's GTI, I'm tempted to steal it from him.

I'm not big into VW... what makes the GTI so special? Where's the potential lie?

They have a huge aftermarket, although it's mostly based in Europe, I just kinda like the way that car looks. Plus, even though it's an import, it's a DIFFERENT import, not an eclipse, honduh or celica, something not seen very often here, (where I am this one is the only one I've seen as a matter of fact).

http://www.thegolfgti.co.uk/

check out the 18mb clip of them going around the track, that thing is hauling ass!

I've already said I don't like Volkswagen, but I'll make an exception to my bigotry for the GTI. I like it!

No no no. The mk2's the pick of the lot. The mk3 and mk4 are too podgy and nowhere near as focused

Re: I'm not a very big import fan, but still...

Jay is right, the Mk2 is definitely the best bet.
I've driven the Mk1 GTI, Mk2 GTI and Mk4 GTi and the Mk2 was definitely the tops for me.

I'm guessing you aren't considering it for it's looks.
Reminds me of the old Chevettes.

No offense meant to the VW lovers.
