Re: V4 Vs V6

I seen a V4 in a Motorcycle , but pontiac doesnt have a V4. Pontiac has l4's. As for a race , i dont think so , those guys with the 4cyl are risk takers and all but i think at the track the v6 will walk all over the lil l4. I could very well be wrong , but my opinion is no all through the race.

Re: V4 Vs V6

it depends on what 4 cylinder your talking about. if your putting a 3400 GA vs a SOHC 2.3 quad then the 3400 will distory it, but if you take that same 3400 ga vs a 2.3 HO quad, then the quad is going to take it. the quad 4 is a racing engine, it was developed by Olds for racing.

Re: V4 Vs V6

best? well the W41 had 190 hp and was only used in the Olds Calais 442 and the 92-93 Achieva SCX. The DOHC HO is more common and came in Achieva SC's and Grand Am GT's and maybe a few J-bodies but don't quote me. The HO had 180 HP. Then the DOHC LO had 155 hp, and the SOHC had 120 hp.

Re: V4 Vs V6

Honda made that V4 Engine. It was a race engine. They wanted the air flow from a 32 valve engine, but the only way they could do that was with a V8, but they class would only alow 4 Cyl. So They made the Cylinders Ovel and had to Connecting rods Per piston. Making a 32 Valve V4. heh. Very very tricky.
