1996 Grand Am CRANKS but wont start

I replaced the ignition coils and checked the ignition module(it's fine).Could it be the crank sensor? And if so, where exactly is it located? The people at Auto Zone are kind of vague. Thanks.

With the key in the on position is the security light flashing? If it is leave the key in the on position until the security light stops flashing (10-15 minutes) then pull the key out and put back in and see if it will crank.

Check your ignition fuses , if they arent connected properly or burnt out it wont turn over. I had this problem a few times on my 2000 GA. Check all of them to be safe.

OK dude, here is the problem..you aren't giving us much information to work with...How much diagnosis have you done? What size engine?
Are you replacing ignition parts because you have no spark?

Mine had a bad ignition switch. Dealer replaced
for free because of a recall! The ignition switch had two burned sensors! Give a shot!

My problems were:
crank no start all lights on
parking light on shifter would blink
would not shift
intermittent starting

I was having the same CRANKS but wont start problem with my 96 Grand Am. The local auto shop wanted $70 just to look at it. Thanks to the info on this post, it's working again. Turns out that it was the Theft Deterant System. I put the key in and left it in for about 10 minutes until the light stopped flashing. Then I took the key out put it back in and she started right up.

I had the same problem and it ended up being corosion on my terminals
