Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

I Just love these two cars, and I want to know everything I can about the two b 4 I make my final decision. Im ready to buy, but just want some basic knowledge. i know the RX8 is the new Renesis Rotary Engine, I have heard that this non-piston engine has a great chance in flooding and burns a s*** load of oil. Other that that I love that car, Im just afraid to spend 30k for a car that I may know nothing about.
HELP!

The G35 Coupe is, by far, the better car in my opinion. The RX-8 isn't as powerful as Mazda claimed. It is a very weak car for the money, and personally, I don't like how it looks. The G35 is a 350Z in a fancy package. If I had $32,000 I'd buy one.

Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

the new rotary engine in the rx-8 is a lot better than the old one. it doesnt burn as much oil as it used to, but it still burns a little bit more than a piston, but not much more. the g35 is a 350z in luxury fashion. it would be a hard choice between the two, but the g35 imo is the better car.

Did you guys know that the RX-8 has an automated tone activated when to shift to the next gear? I found that quite striking. They did it because the engine reved so smooth that you may not realize that its at its 9000rpm redline. That honestly impresses me. Seems like a lot of the quirks from the old rotary in the 7 were worked out for this one.

A comparision between these cars you really need to ask yourself what type of car you want. The RX-8 is far less civilized IMO than the G35. Ahhh the Infiniti, I almost get goose pumps when saying that, hehe. Whichever suits your fancy is the one I'd go with. You can find lots of info on the web of both cars very accessibly.

Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

for the price i find it hard to justify getting an rx-8 over the G35. i'm sure it'd handle better than the bulkier and bigger G35 but like everyone said, these are two different cars. i'd take the G35 without thinking twice.

The RX8 never struck me an impressive car.

the RX from the third GEN FD RX-7 had that audiable beep. it actually comes on at around 1000-500K before the redline and it gets quit annoying. anyways the RX-8 is extremely slow for the money. can you believe it takes almost 16 seconds to hit 100? that is pathetic. the old RX-7 can do it in under around 13 seconds flat. and the G can do it in 14.5 seconds. i mean the RX-8 has a great interior and it looks great. but i like the G35 better exterior wise. and i looked under the hood of the RX-8 and that thing looks just as hard to work on as the older RX-7 FD's. i couldn't even find the spark plugs on on this. ( then again i was tryin to look for wires and then i realized that its probrably a coil over plug design. but non of the less. rotarys are a bitch to work on .

Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

If you know nothing about cars, get the G35. At least when you have to take it in for service if you plan on not doing it yourself, the idiot mechanics know about piston engines.

TatII~ My TII has that shift beep too and I'm pretty sure they've been doing it since the RX-3's, not sure though.

Rotarys are also WAY easier to work on. Especially the Renesis...

maybe the core engine itself is alot easier to work on. but its not the case with the actual car esp with the manifolds and air pumps and a mess of vacuum lines to deal with.

Thumbs up Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

Well Thanks for all you're help guys. Seems to be the G35 all the way here. I dont know much about cars, especially a totally new engine that even average mechanics wont know a thing aboiut.... I guess it's best to avoid the headache all together and go with the KICK ASS G35. I test drove it and WOW! I love that way that engine sounds and feels. I just dont wanna spend 30k+ on a car that might flood and leave me stranded.

Re: Torn between 2 great cars!

Having grown up with many people who are absolute Rotary gurus, I have bugger all problems working on a Rotary, I put them at evens with piston engines. RENESIS is state of the art, solved all flaws presented (especially) by the 13B.

The Rotary engine is obviously by no means new, having been around since about the early 60's, problem is, if you aren't fixing them by yourself, then you should steer well clear.

The RX8 would be the superior Sports car and is well, just a better car really, FAR superior to the old N/A 13B's, which it technically goes up against.
