rev limiter?!?!?!

i have a problem when tryin to rev out my gears.. my 3rd gear when it hits like close to 3500rpm the car jus stop revving.. i hit the gas i get nottin untill the revs get below 3200rpm.. i experienced it on 3rd, 4th and even 5th... i looked it up on the net an saw on some site that some1 else was having this same problem and they said it was a rev limiter.. but my uncle who is a experienced mechanic told me it could be the throttle body that needs adjusting and if its the rev limiter i could probably take tha crankshaft sensor off an get rid of the limiter but he said he wasn't really sure.. any1 else ever had this prob on there s13 240's? any1 know any way to get around this or how to fix this?

I think stock it limits 4th and 5th gear to prevent you from going over 115mph-120mph.. If your cutting out at 3500rpm @ 3rd gear, something is definatly wrong =(

this doesnt have much to do with your question, but what exactly is it limited at, not just in 5th, i know thats around 5200, but what about 1-4th???i havent found out yet, cuz i havent pushed my engine yet,(just bought the car) and i was just curious

rev limiter=6900RPM

the other limiter is for speed, so when your in 5th gear, it should stop at 119 (~5000RPM's)

it should not limit your revs when you are in any other gear except for fifth, other than the rev limiter (6900rpm)

the speed limiter should only work in 5th gear

and thats only at like 5000 rpms

other than that there is no such limiter at 3500

wow, is it really that high at 6900??? cuz it redlines at like, 6250... but i spose the redline is just telling you, slow down, your reaching dangerous rmp's...

whaaaaaa...... so tha limiter supposed to only limit my revs in 5th? damn well does any 1 know of the problem that i'm having? does the throttle need adjusting?

Does it pull strong in the other gears that low in rpms? Because if it doesnt, you may just not be making power in that range, i.e big exhaust, headers, any kind of decreasing of backpressure. There is only a certian area where you make power in the rpm band. KA24s are low end and SRs are high end.

r u saying his car is not strong enough to make it up to 6k rpms? and what is this...."KA's are low end, sr's atre high end" just dont say those kina things here

and ZDUDE, i think the 89-90 (SOHC)'s have their rev limiter at 6250 cuz the redline is at that, the DOHCS have it at 6.9k thats why i said it lol

well the engine is complete stock except for an exhust... the pipes are all stock except for part of the pipe on the end which is like 2.5 i think.. could that be the prob?

no thats not a thing which would limit your revs....

My 90' SOHC limits at 6.5K, that or myTach is way off. (I've really got to stop "testing" that.)

i tested the car today after not drivin it for the past 4 days assuming that it would jus go away if i don't drive the car for a minute lol... i tested it today on 4th gear and noticed that when i stepped on the gas it stopped revving at 4000rpm then started back when when the revs dropped below 3200rpm.. when i drove normal the revs went past 4000rpm on 4th.. any suggestions on wut i should look at first? but to me it sounds like a gas problem

just a guess, but maybe the throttle body, try pushin the pedle all the way down, but dont stomp on it, see if it happens, cuz it might just be when you stomp it, if it is the throttle body, it may just need cleaning, thats what my car needed
