Today Alex and I did some yard work and I was in the back yard. I heard a buzzing noise and when I turned around there was a hummingbird hovering about 5 feet from me and chirping. Then she buzzed up into the tree. I looked up to see her in a nest and it looked like she was feeding babies. They are too small to see from ground still. So I ran in and got my camera and snagged a few pics....this one turned out the best:

Lucky you! It's not very often hummingbirds are around long enough to get a picture of, let alone there be a nest to watch.

Wow, great shot and great find. Hummingbirds are so amazing.. its impossible to comprehend how fast those little wings beat.

Thanks. We usually get a nest every year to every other year....this is the first set of pics I have gotten. A few years ago I came across a baby that had fallen from the nest. I nursed it for the weekend feeding it sugar water thru a straw. That was pretty cool. I then gave him (or her) to an organization called For The Birds. They have volunteers who rehab them and release them back into the wild. Any bird from hummingbirds to pigeons to hawks and eagles.

and bout the nest yea i seen a few here their everywhere, we have like 5 in our school and sometimes ppl scared them away or even break the eggs, its pretty messed up but ey nice pick and yea excuse chavez lol

I only get robins and boring nests like that up here. But in the spring the hummingbirds come over during the afternoons and eat (?) flowers.

Nice shot Kat I've seen quite a few humming birds around here during the summers, but have never seen a nest.
