944 n/a whinning noise

I have an 89 944 and it makes a strange whinning noise that changes its sound with engine rpm. It sounds like a belt or something of that sort. I dont know where to start to look. Please give me any of your ideas. Thanks.

could be your balance shafts
or the b/s belts

Make sure you check the timing and balance shaft belt rollers too
