I can't figure out how to take the gear shifter knob off. I don't know if it matters much because I want to go for a short shift kit anyhow. But if you know ..could you write a few words please ..thanks in advance.:smoka:

Hack saw and vice grips. You would think that Nissan glues those things on. That is the only way we were able to get my friends off. So make sure you have a aftermarket knob handy for when you are done.

Actually they DO glue them on!
I took a chain pipe wrench (like the one in the pic) and a towel. Wrap the towel around the knob and use a setting on the chain wrench that is fricking tight. It might slip a couple times then just use a tighter setting. That bastard will eventually break. And with some luck the stock knob will be in perfect condition. That's how I got mine loose.

Makes you wonder why they stick them on so bloody tight.

Well, quite recently I heard about a "towel-under-the-car" trick. Check his link http://www.sr20de.net/faq/shifters.html You'll have to remove the shifter, though. And get lucky. I heven't tried it myself, so ... Seems to be fun

I want to know how you put your car in gear to park it over the knob when you have it laying on the ground!

But I don't think that when the guy mentioned the "minivan"(or somehting) he referred to the car he was working on! You can always push your car, can't you?
