93 explorer loosing transmission fluid
I have a 93 Explorer with 107,000 that gradually looses transmission fluid (about a pint every six weeks), but there are no external signs of a leak - no spots, do drips. Where could it be going?

I had the same problem on a 94 Mazda like ford explorer sport what happened was that the vacuum module on the tranny went out and was sending fluid to the engine and burning it off check the vacuum hoses for the elasticity to see if any fluid has gotten in the hoses

Re: 93 explorer loosing transmission fluid
First thing is to tighten all of the pan bolts. Second do a really good clean up. Start engine and idle for a few minutes and shutoff engine. Third, place a piece of clean cardboard under engine and transmission. Fourth, go have lunch and when done come on back and check cardboard for spots. Also get a droplight and get a really close look at engine/trans junction (2X2); transfer case/trans junction (4X4); and output shaft. You can clean with brake cleaner spray. Remember the leak can be more towards the front but travels back towards the output shaft and if you drive it, the fluid will spread everywhere and make it hard to pinpoint. Happy fluid hunting.

another place to look is on passenger side / along-side of c-converter//
there's 2 {round} servo covers that tend to leak /// problem though pressure is only present when in 2nd gear or od o rings get brittle over time // some trans shops will do that repair, if needed |
