does anyone have directions for replacing the intake gaskets on a 3100 (3.1)

the motor is in a 98 malibu but if you have a 3100 it should be the same any help is appreciated.

Theoretically it is not rocket science but you need to unbolt everything and get a lot of things out of the way. You also need a torque wrench to tighten the bolts back to certain specifications, so a repair manual is necessary too. It's very time consuming and you should only do it if you are experienced enough.

i don't know much about repair work, but i can tell you that i just had a quote to have my intake gaskets replaced. i'm guessing by the $450 price tag ($60.00 parts & rest labor) that it is very labor intensive. it sounded like they had to tear down the whole top of the engine. unfortunately, mine turned out to be the head cover gasket not the intake gaskets.

Check www.autozone.com. They have repair guides that appear for the most part to be from actual GM repair manuals. Looks easy enough if you normally work on your own car.

ive done more than my share and like its written above it not all that tough but if you arent feeling to sure about yourself i would pay someone to do it
