no heat/mixed heat

I have a 1992 Grand Am SE with a 3.3l in it. I am having problems with the car heating very little. It is weird cuz the drivers side vent/defroster/heater has warm air comming out of it but the passenger side vent/defroster/heater has cold almost like outside air comming out of it. I live in Wisconsin and the weather has been terribly cold here and i would like to get this fixed. As per some of the other threads that i have read on here i am beginning to think that the heater core might be slightly plugged, idunno for sure and don't really have the resources to do it at this time untild the weather warms up. Any and all insight is appreciated and hopeful will help me to get this problem fixed.

also i forgot to include that i can't get the engine temperature over the 1/4 mark on the gauge in the dash pod. I have the whole radiator blocked off except for the hole the size of the inside of a roll of duct tape. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS????????? arrrrghgghghgh

your engine is not suppose to go over 1/4 or maybe 1/2.i have a 92 grand am to i was told that my conducter might be cloged so clean conducter

well here is an update to this thread....... I had placed a chunk of card board in front of the radiator to get a bit of heat but it was still not enough. I ended up over heating the car once it got warmer outside because I for got about the cardboard (st00pid me). I let it cool down and added more coolant and it still ran fine. I did a compression check on it and all of the cylinders were within each other and spec. I decided to go the route of changing the thermostat and the heater core. Once everything was done I had heat again! I took the heater core and opened it up....... found that every single one of the ports that the coolant flows through was blocked tight so that the incomming fluid would go straight back out.

well I had another overheating issue..... not too long ago. I ended up changing the water pump that was thought to be faulty (due to a clacking noise). Once that was changed and everything was put back together the clacking was still there. Thought that the timing chain damper was shot and started on the route to the timing cover to find out that the Harmonic Balancer was indeed the culprit. The rubber had broke loos from the outside pulley and the center was knocking against it during idle and acceleration. Once that was all fixed up I got to drive the car some and still foud it to be over heating (up over the 1/2 (220F) mark. I ended up pulling out the radiator, reverse flushed, flushed, reverse flushed, and flushe to find out that not much in the way of gunk came out of it. I tried to look thru the cooling fins but couldn't see thru them. They were plugged bad for some reason. Flushed them out with the garden hose and now everything is back to normal. Thought that I would post this incase someone else might need it for future reference.

I have the same problems with my 93 SE. what is the conductor and does and one have instructions on how to change my heater..thanks Glenn
