yes....another ls/vtec question

ive been researching the whole ls/vtec process and potention problems for the past week or so...wut ive notice tho is that all of the problems people say that it causes are from the stock parts (stock ls pistons and rods) that they cant handle the added pressure of higher rpms...im just wondering that if the stock parts are switched out for aftermarket performance parts if these problems are any longer an issue...thanks for any input

Re: yes....another ls/vtec question

Thye stock ls pistons and rods can take the extra rpm, but the crankshaft is not reinforeced like on the B18C abd B16A motors. You need a block girddle. Here is a pic of all the things you need to add when doing the LS/VTEC.

Here you will see the oil pan, windage tray, oil pick up, main caps, girddle, main cap bolts and the ITR oil pump. The things in the bottom right hand side are the oil squirters found on DOHC VTEC motors, you don't have to get these but you can have them installed in your block by a machine shop if you want them. This is what keeps everything together above 7K but no higher than 8-8.5K with the LS stroke.
Any more questions?

If you are already spending the money, go ahead and get the oil squirters installed. Reliability is a big consideration when it comes to frankenstein engines. Do it right the first time and dont pay for it in the end.

Re: yes....another ls/vtec question

These are stock parts, the parts in the pic are from a 00 ITR and they are going into my motor But you can find them on www.thepartstrader.com and other places where people sell stuff.
