Re: whats the cheapest complete turbo system?

Cheap and turbo do not belong in the same sentence!! If you want cheap then go another route!

He's right about that, but if you want a cheap kit youre better off building your own. Some custom kits can get real expensive and others can be real cheap. Just depends on what brand parts you want to use.

Re: whats the cheapest complete turbo system?

Most of the time when you go cheap with a turbo kit custom or not you will be sacrificing reliability and the life of the kit and motor. Cheap parts break and fail faster than quality parts, not saying that parts have to be expensive to be good but that you can't expect a long life with cheap parts.

Creating a custom turbo kit is great, but there are a few parts that I too am confused about. With an intercooler, are there any companies that make a kit for cars that do not come turbo'd stock? Also, with the engine managment, what is the best way to go? I do not want to go all out and get a full standalone system, that will be saved for later when my budget is greater. Also, when getting all the oil lines, is there anything that says what oil lines u need and where u neeed to run? If you go w/ a kit, it will be much easier to install in my mind and then just upgrade a few parts if u need to. I am thinking about going w/ the FMAX kit

Re: whats the cheapest complete turbo system?

Intercoolers can be bought anywhere, just look around. A starion intercooler works abosultely great on an integra. There are companies that make intercoolers for your car like Greddy, Drag etc you can buy the IC by itself. Now for the oil lines there are only 2 one goes from the back of the block where you simply have to thread in a tee connector where the oil pressure sending unit is and the run it to the turbo, then you need to run another from the tyrbo to the oil pan for a return. You will have to do this weather you get a kit or build a kit. Check out this link and read up on this and then post back with any questions you might have. http://www.cse.uconn.edu/~yelevich/turbo/turbo.html

If i were to ever build a turbo kit, id piece one together with used parts from www.dsmtrader.com . A T 25 , Eclipse Intercooler , Eclipse 1g BOV. thats definately a start on a decent turbo system. The T25 can only go to about 250hp Max. Considering most people turboing wont even get to the 250 with stock internals on there LS or D series engine.
