To me, i see no reason why dodge should not bring back the charger. It would give the Mustang a run for it's money, which, at the moment, has no competition by a rwd V8-powered sports car in it's segment, thanks to the demise of the Camaro and Firebird. I don't consider cars such as the Corvette, the new GTO, or the Viper, just to name a few, as equal competition. Their performance, as well as price, is much higher than the Mustang. The only mustang i would consider entering into that group would be the Cobra and the Saleen. And even then, the Cobra can't hang with the Z06's and Vipers, although it is good competition for the GTO and base Corvette. I see a strong chance for Dodge and DC to make profit with a new Charger. I say they should make it to take aim solely at the Mustang line of cars. They could have a base model with the 3.5L V6 used in the Intrepid, preferably the 250hp HO version. Step up to the SE model with the 4.7L V8 for direct competition with the Mustang GT, and have an R/T model with the Hemi engine. I say have prices range between 20 grand base model, 24 for the SE (again, direct competition for the GT), and close to if not right at 30 grand for the R/T. But if they have an R/T with a Hemi, they better have a manual transmission offered with it. Right now the only way you could get a Hemi with the manual is to buy a 3500, where the Hemi is the base engine and actually does come with a manual. But the fact that it's a dually and is pretty heavy negates the performance advantage of a manual. Although they do come with a 4.10 axle ratio...but still. To me, in a performance car/truck, a Hemi with an automatic is not right! What ever happened to manuals? Can nobody drive sticks anymore? Seem to me like everybody is getting lazy. When i buy a new car/truck or whatever i get next summer, either the dealer orders me or finds me one with a manual or it's off to the next dealer.
