srt-4
OK now to all you ingornant people out there, u dont know jack bout the SRT-4. You all say its a shitty dodge product. You say the STI or EVO is better, but look at the stats. The SRT-4 beats all in everything. Yes maybe it barley beats the WRX, but chec dis, its 10,000 less than WRX, so put a stage 3 turbo in it, and you will most deffinetly kill all competetors. And second of all, you say that theres no performance parts for it. Thats not true, dodge is coming out with a full line of after market products for it, and they will be good because you know if they make this stock SRT-4 fast, these will make it faster. Third, all you talken bout the WRX and EVO's all whell drive. Only time that matters is in the road course. Not in dragging which most people do, but the biggest deal bout that is the traction it all depends on what tires you have on your car, no traction you dont go no where. Finally, most you people dont know where dodge got all these ideas for this car. The designers actually went out on the street where the street racing took place and got ideas from all the aftermarket products on those peoples cars. Why do u think the Jueep Rubicon is the most capible stock off road vehicle, because they did the same thing. Pretty neat huh?

just look at the time it takes for both cars to reach 100mph, wrx is like 2 secs slower |

Okay. First of all this post was pointless. Second of all, the SRT-4 is 4 grand less than a WRX, 10 grand less than the STi. Third, both the Evo and STi outperform the SRT-4 in every category. The SRT-4 will take a stock WRX, though. Also, there is no stage 3 yet. Only stage 1. And alot of companies are starting to make aftermarket parts for the SRT-4. Seems like they know a good thing when they see it. AWD does help in drag racing, but only in the holeshot. Soon afterwards, the extra rotating mass will catch up to it. Consequently, i think the turbo 2.4L in the SRT-4 would be a good match to an AWD platform. As much horsepower as it puts down at the wheels, which was more than the factory rated it at the flywheel, and seeing as how it makes an even 240hp and 260lb-ft at the wheels with the stage 1 upgrade from Mopar, (as dynoed by SCC) i believe the Neon SRT-4 would make an excellent AWD car. Hmmm...ya know, the Evo and SRT-4 both have an identical wheelbase...only an inch difference between the two...somebody should make an AWD SRT-4 project...That would be a bad mamma-jamma.

In 2006 the SRT-4 and Evo will be made on same plat form if dodge continues srt-4. This will be like the stealth/3000gt were.

I’d have to agree with you on most of your points since I think the SRT-4 is a great car, but you're guilty of what you're accusing people of, let me take a little time to correct you:
1. The WRX STi and Evo IIIV will both beat the SRT-4 in every category except price. They are both about $10,000 more. The WRX is about $4,000 more and will get trounced on by the SRT-4. 2. With the stage 2 kit you will be beating the STi and Evo IIIV in the straight line but they will both still take you down in the turns. The stage 3 kit is not street legal because it removes the catalytic converter. 3. All wheel drive makes a huge difference in drag racing. Front wheel drive is horrible. With front wheel drive you will have the worst traction problems compared to all wheel drive and rear wheel drive. When you accelerate the front end will lift reducing traction on the front wheels you can also get torque steer if you don’t have a good LSD. Then there is the problem of durability. A solid axle is always better than half-shafts and all front wheel drive cars use half shafts. They have a tendency to snap especially when you get wheel hop, which is a big problem for front wheel drive cars. All wheel drive always gives a better traction advantage during acceleration than rear wheel drive or front wheel drive but the weight and power train loss are weaknesses. It is all a trade-off. Also the advantage that all wheel drive gives you in the turns is quite minimal on dry pavement. It helps mostly on wet conditions. 4. Dodge actually used ideas that they had been using for years back in the 80s and up until the mid 90s. They have been turbo-charging cars longer than most any other car company has besides perhaps Saab. The SRT-4 is very similar to the turbo-charged Chryslers, Plymouths, and Dodges of the 80s and 90s. Also, Jeep is a name synonymous with off-roading and always has been one of the most capable off-road vehicles. They had no need to get input from the outside on either project since they have enough experience in both. Quote:

As far as the new engine being jointly developed by the three companies (hyundai, Mitsu, DC), i think we're already starting to see it on other vehicles. Of course i may be wrong, but i'm just making an assumption based on the information i have. The engine in my sister-in-law's new Hyundai Santa Fe that my brother bought her is a 2.4l. Also, the new MIVEC engine in the Lancer Ralliart, which looks like a nice car to me, is a 2.4l, with 162 horsepower, i believe. I had thought at one time that the SRT-4's 2.4l was also a version of this universal engine, but now i don't think that it is, of course like i said i could be wrong, i'm just going by educated guesses here. But i am thinking pretty sure that the new engine in the Lancer Ralliart is the first actual showing of this new engine, and it's potential. Anyone care to comment, prove me wrong, etc.? I have no lament for anyone who disagrees with me, so please, have at thee!

The 2.4L in the SRT-4 is complete designed and built by Chrysler. The only thing that came from Mitsubishi is the turbo. There are NO Hyundai parts in ANY Chrysler product. I don't know where you got that idea. Also the engine in the SRT-4 is completely new and different from the 2.4L used in the Stratus.

The engine is re designed stratus engine same as pt. They had to find more than one use for it or No point in re designing it for one car. I will try to post a link to a good article with alot of engine info.

I saw that someone said something about the drive terrian. I have heard that dodge is in the process of changing all their vehicles drive terrains to rear wheel i think... and making the srt awd

Right now the only cars being replaced by a RWD would be the intrepids. They're being replaced with the Magnum. As for the AWD SRT-4, i don't know...I have heard that the Lancer will be coming to the US as not just a Mitsu, but as a Dodge also. Wether or not this has any truth to it or not, i have yet to find out. But as far as i know the SRT-4 will stay fwd. As well as the Stratus for that matter. But the intrepid is going, so say goodbye to it. And say hello to a rwd Magnum. You know, a re-introduction of the rwd platform to dodge cars makes me wonder if they might actually decide to make the Charger concept they had out for so long. It makes sense...new rwd platform, re-introduction of the HEMI engine...i personally would like to see it come back. As long as it isn't anything like the past 80's chargers. *shivers*
