Is HLJ slipping?? Is the Tamiya FD3S RX-7 R1 kit OOP?

wanted to order a 7 and some other modeling goodies from HLJ.
they have a grey square indicating product hasn't been ordered by a customer so they haven't tried to re-order and are unsure if product is still in production. before I get myself deep into the infamous HLJ ordering system, can anyone confirm wether or not Tamiya is still producing this model? (Mazda RX-7 R1 w/engine detail code: TAM24116 )

P.S. you know... I planned to order a couple of tamiya models from them namely the R34 VspecII, plain Supra w/ engine, RX-7 w. engine and ALL of those kits are out of stock/backordered. I know its Xmas time but its also some of the most basic stock I'd keep if I ran a hobbyshop
so...
anyone have any suggestions on a cheaper/better place to shop for those items w/ a set of fujimi's Volk Racing TE37MAG 18-inch and Kranze Shoki 18in???

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I have to ask: How did you get that carbon fiber effect on the engine cover in your sig?

they are out of production when the symbol is black with a skull on it. back-ordered just means they need to get a new shipment in... i also highly doubt they would discontinue this car because it is very well liked etc

Japanese people are known for their "minimum inventory" storage system, they stock a certain product only if they get an order for it, this way their storage and managing cost can be minimized.

I am pretty sure, if not 100%, that R1 is still in production, so is Supra, so I would suggest you to give them a try.

Another way to see if a certain product has been in production, check www.tamiyausa.com
they have a list of cars that they still produce, with photos too! Just that they seem to be lazy even updating that page. IMO.

Good luck.

Re: Is the Tamiya FD3S RX-7 R1 kit OOP?

Any kit on this chart with a price listed is in current production somewhere in the world. If the price is replaced by a star - OOP. The red text at the top says, "[star] - The product of a mark has stopped production now."

http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/list/24car_1.htm

The RX-7 R1 is kit number 24116, listed for 1600 yen. It is in current production.

looks modelish because of all that camber in the rear.
