For all those lowered P11's who needs shocks...

Koni will have a set available by 12/20/01. Note: these will only be the Koni Specials aka Reds. Adjustable dampening only by taking it off the car, compressing it and then turning it counter-clockwise. The dampening may not be aggresive enough for high spring rates but enough for just plain lowering springs. These will have Koni's lifetime warranty as stated on their website "KONI street shocks carry a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser for as long as you own the vehicle." unlike having the unwarranted Maxima shocks for the rear. Maxima rears are NOT made for our cars, therefore not warranted, but these are. So Koni will warranty these, as long as its your car and its on a US P11. A "Warranted" Sport set maybe available soon but no ETA is set. Part #'s and prices are as follows...

F - 8040-1127 - $95 Each
R - 8040-1220 - $119 Each

check with www.velocityresources.com for availability and ordering info.

thanks to Velocity Resources and B-Boogie for the contact info.

damn, i sound like a salesman

it'll be good for most of us here who can't afford a set of coilovers and better for those who already have lowering springs on their p11...but a sport set would be nice

btw, Jason said their is a sport version of the fronts that Koni will warrant on a USP11 but no rears as of yet or ever...especially since I've seen that rear part number floating around for a while now and they haven't made a sport application for it yet. Looks like the Reds are all we're getting, let's see if kyb responds

I have the 8040-1127s on the front of my P11 and they're yellows! The 8040-1220 is on my car and is a red. The 8040-1127 should also fit a P10.
There shouldn't be any significant size difference between the 8040-1242 (rear yellow) and 8040-1220 (rear red).
How would Koni know what car you installed a shock on if you don't tell them?
Can anyone independently verify this?

Shox.com said a year ago that they could get these shocks.

Donster,

What spring rates are you using on your GC's and how do you like them?

When I got mine I have no idea what the rates were, I didnt even know it was an option... I was a newbie then anyhow.. the ride was OK, except for that darn squeaking..

I ended up selling my setup and getting the Teins. I think I'd like to swap back though..

hmmm....maybe I will get a set of Koni's but it really really sucks that you can only adjust them out of the car with the spring out. Thats just a pain in the ass. I sure hope KYB comes out for the rears. It will definitely be cheaper too.

yep tru, the p10 and p11 fronts are interchangeable, exact same part number, reds or yellows

size difference, most likely no, but spring perch height, yes...the 1242's have a spring perch that's a little higher than standard, which may actually raise your car little, but the 1220's have a adjustable spring perch, the bottom one being exactly standard height and the top one is 20mm higher.

they probably wouldn't know, but i guess thats what you would call the honor system lol

no doubt, Velocity Resources could have gotten them too, these part numbers have been floating for a while now, but i think the reason why no one has offered them to p11's in the US market yet is because Koni hasn't approved the fitment and warranty until now :flash:

I'm pretty sure I have 380 up front and 340 in the rear. Ride is still comfortable, and handled well on the track too. Yes, these are way higher than the P10 GCs, but since the P11 is heavier I guess you can get away from it.

I understand now about the spring perch with the 8040-1242. But I'm surprised that it would make a difference with the adjustable height GCs.

Has anybody tried GAB shocks with GCs on a P11? GABs are known to be really stiff but they are externally adjustable.

I keep mentioning it, but the Motivational Engineering rear upper mounts will help you drop the car and at the same time give you more wheel travel.

prolly wont make too much a difference for those with GC's, cause those people can just lower their GC's a little to make up for the raise on those 1242's. Others with just plain lowering springs have to go with the 1220's for correct fitment.

but that brings up an interesting question for those GC owners out there, which shock will give you more travel? knowing now both will fit the rear(only applies to GC owners). the 1242's or the 1220's?...you gotta consider the 1220's also have a adjustable spring perch...just a question for those out there with GC's to ponder

I dont think the Koni's would lower you anymore.

The Teins have 3 height settings which are aproximately... 2", 1.8", and 1.5"

Might even raise you a tad b/c your stock shocks are a lot softer than the Koni's will be.
