automatic upgrades

I have a stock (ex. K&N filter) 1999 base mustang. I friend of mine has an 03 with the same engine, but his is a manual. I doubt he can shift correctly, but I still hear crap from people about my auto. I have been looking at some B&M items, but the only thing they have for my 4R70W is the base shift improver kit (I think). I was wondering if anyone could help me with some cheap upgrades for my auto.

You mean welcome to Automotive Forums, not 3.8 Mustang.

Re: automatic upgrades

You can get a stall kit, tighter converter, shift kit...etc. There are many, many things you can do to an automatic...more than the manuals.

You mean a looser converter. The stock converter is way to tight for any type of performance.

But first I would slap in a new set of gears.

Re: automatic upgrades

Whoops...I have a fever and that was typed at 4:00am...I apologize for my mistake. Agreed on the gears first.

Thanks your all yall's help. I've been looking at some cheap, used ford 8.8, 3.73's and a posi-trac rear ends on ebay. Then, a Diablo chip (once again, used of ebay) and maybe a shift improver kit. That's probably all for the near future. Thanks again and God Bless.

A friend of mine has a 99 GT auto. He has a transgo shift kit and said it really helps make the shifting smoother.
