neon fuel pump isnt working

i have a 95 sohc neon drove it to school and parked it when i cam eout it wouldnt start fuel pump isnt working and the fuse and relay are fine i used my test light and found that only one wire going into the tank was getting power how many wires should there be getting power

oh wait it did start and run for like two seconds then died but i had to give gas to get it to start

are you sure the fuel pump is dead? the last thing you want to have to do is replace that thing. have someone turn the key to the run position - but not start it - while you are on the ground near the gas tank. you should hear a friendly hum from your fuel pump. if you hear nothing and everything else you said is fine, then you're in for a fun job. i had to change mine in a pharmacy parking lot at 3 in the morning once. good luck

Ya, hopefully its not the fuel pump, changing one of those is pretty brutal...make sure before you get into that job...

i have the same problem,i checked the fuse its ok. can't hear the fuel pump. do you know how to change the pump.

mine is 97sohc. pump price is 185 or 225
let me know how you fix yours cobra35

I had the exact same problem with my '95. I switched ASD relay with the fuel pump relay, but I never got around to actually testing them, since the car runs great now and I'm too lazy to check it :P. It is possible that relay itself wasn't bad at all, and that there was just enough surface corrosion on the connection to screw up the signal. You know how these new cars need their voltage just so...
