Mitsubishi WRC04 unveiled

Here is a link to the spec, as well as pics. Check out the wing position ...

I like the car, but i definitely don't like the wing, neither shape, nor position.

I think it's a strange car...

It would be interesting to see some high-res pics of it, without the enourmous JPG compression, which makes it impossible to see curves and areas rigth in red...

It seems to me, the wheel wells take almost the entire height of the car ?

and then the wing is just being.... like a piece of a 206 fallen off and the guys at mitsubishi were like "hey, it the guys at Ford do so well with their wing they found on the side of the road, why don't we steal one from peugeot too???

Only problem being that mitsubishi ran out of inspiration where to put it, so they just screwed it to the trunk...

Seriously, I think that practicality is more important then aestetics, but to a degree, this is just ....

There have been tons of innovations in the racing world since its inception, and I'd be surprised if conversations about how strange they looked didn't spring up for each and every one of them. Looks odd, but it might get the job done best. Don't be surprised if in a couple years, spoilers end up there on all cars. Then again, it might go the way of 6-wheel formula cars...

Looks really odd. The front wheel arches are twice the size of the whell and the wings in the middle of the boot... Well has long as it's working. Will the production model get the same look?

Re: Mitsubishi WRC04 unveiled

Everything looks nice except the spoiler. Why is it so far up, and does it even do anything?

You mean be very competitive, but suffer from the lack of tyre development, and then be subsequently banned? Remember, that when Williams put 4 wheels at the back of the car the laptimes dropped by seconds!

Yeah well I was trying to think of an innovation that wasn't effective and I couldn't...

Race car engineers know too much!

The weird thing is it remind me Group B cars as it is a bit more special than normal WRC, a bit more like a prototype really.
