What temp your bird run at?...

My 89 Trans Am GTA runs at about 220, or the middle of the meter. The meter shows a little over 220 but i think thats because the meter's not completely accurate. On the freeway it goes down to about 180. Does this seem correct. The mechanic said it was right, but it feels a little hot.

Third gen f-bodies(82-92 camaros and firebirds) run pretty hot. Get a 165 degree thermostat and make your fan run all the time or a switch to turn it on when you want.

What does that do? Just rebuilt engine and said it runs fine, but I think I could run cooler? Happen to know how much it costs?

Not all birds are hot

My 89 Formula 305 TBI runs at 140, or if I make it sit in one place and run, it will move up to 220 when the fan comes on and brings it down to 180.

low coolant water indicator stays on.

when the light comes on the temp is about 210 and stays about there. but about a year and half ago the wife took the car to the shop because the thermostat malfuctioned. i noticed some white residue on the refill water stick. could the sensor inside the refill bottle dirty???

i used to run at like 210 then i got the 160 and i run at like 180. BUT then i got the ground effects and it actually made the car run a little hotter....but the few degree increase is worth the look of the car...see for yourself...

Re: What temp your bird run at?...

Cooler thermostats are the way to go. I got one that is 160 degree. When sitting in traffic just turn on the AC even if it is in the winter and the fan will start a little sooner at about 200 degrees.
