well G$ has a point here, but not with these cameras.....now the police know they are on to a winner here for makin easy money they've been developin new cameras........ and these U can't dodge......how u may ask? ...well the existing cameras work an camera film...so the police have to regularly change the film etc to get the speeders..so maybe when the film is full and the police haven't checked u could escape or because these were changed after a while peeps could say it wasn't them driving..but with the new ones they are digital...no need for changing film, the pics are sent straight from the camera to police, and U get a letter for the fine the following day......and the worst bit about these cameras is they are positioned with at every couple of miles on the same stretch of road so once u pass one your no plate is taken....and as you pass each sensor your speed is recorded, as you don' know where they are, U can't slow down to avoid them, once they have your plate....they could follow your entire journey.......
they've only been tried on one stretch of road so far...and on the first day a couple of thousand speeders were caught.........raked in a lot of money for the police too......

that's such a violation of your rights, isn't something like that against the constitution? i think that's part of the reason they have taken them off our roads, becaues it's talking away peoples rights. The government shouldn't be watching every move you make

thats the reason only a couple of roads hve these cameras...as there have been a lot of complaints re privacy laws etc...thus yet not all roads have them.......they really rip-off the motorist in this country..

You would be suprised at how much the government already knows about you mate.

Fast fact. Every person born in the US since 1975 was figner and foot printed at the hospital. Then your prints were sent off to the FBI and entered in a national Data base which it had kept secrete for over 20 years until someone actually finally blew the whistle on it. This was an illegal act but never prosecuited, yet the FBI continues to maintain this data base and still updating it vertually every day! Scary.

The US military has ove 30 downword looking satilites but maintains only 5 exhist for spying on nation security risk nations and groups. Yea right!

Speed camera = Greed camera.
If the government really wanted to get the road toll down then the sensible thing to do is to teach people how to drive. New Zealand has some of the poorest drivers in the world. It becomes staggeringly obvious when you visit a European country and return to NZ. The money made from speed fines doesnt go towards driver education or improvement of roads. The government is taking the easy (and profitable) way out - instead of teaching drivers how to drive at high speeds they are simply making them drive slowly. Slow driving doesnt mean safe driving though. Today I read the local newspaper ( Howick Times, Monday, front page) and realised that the morons have lost the plot all together. This concerns the stretch of the Whitford - Maraetai road that has been in the papers quite often recently, due to it having a large amount of accidents. Instead of spending the money to improve the road, or to build an alternate one, they are planning to launch another advertisement programme, something like "Speak up and live - Shut up and die" - basically they want the passengers to speak up when the driver is speeding and tell them to slow down. This bullshit apparently is going to be put up on billboards around the Eastern area of Auckland (which, as it happens, has a high speeding average). The dipshits who came up with this idea need to be f^@$ed with a very large pre-heated metallic dildo up the arse, and then sacked for wasting money that could otherwise be used to save lives.
As for white box speed cameras on poles - these were always there, if i'm not mistaken. Yet I dont think theres ANY point whatsoever in them, even for making money, because I've never seen anyone speed past a pole mounted speed camera. Theyve been in the same place for many years and absolutely everyone knows where they are.

well all the cameras here in the uk used to be grey and well
placed behind road signs and bushes make u think...but now
they r startin to paint them bright red and yellow stripes.....
so that people can see them well in advance and not have to stop suddenly

The thing that really pisses me off is the statement that now the fixed cameras are coming back into operation here, they will have to "work extra hard" to "make up the shortfall" What freaking "shortfall"?!??!?!??!?!! Dumb dumb dumb. If that statement isn't an admission that the sole reason for the cameras is revenue-collecting, then I dunno what it is iss-artists. :
