I am well aware the sedan = 4 dr and the coupe = 2dr. The Sedan is lighter than the Coupe...it goes....in order from lightest to heaviest....Hatchback, Sedan, Coupe. The coupe and 4-door weight ins't too far apart though.

And Parsalian05, you are welcome. Also, if you put in a new motor, you'll need to swap in the proper ECU for that motor. A Civic DX ECU will not run a GSR motor heck it wont run a Vtec D-series motor. You'll need (I know there's more than just these parts) the motor, tranny, and ecu. So you'd need to get the euro-accord engine, tranny, and ecu for example. Also, thats what jcrx ment, put a euro type-r motor into the civic. The Civic chassis is 1000 lbs lighter than the euro-type-r accord, so the motor will haul ass in the civic.

sweet! few more questions to sum this thread up. can anyone tell me some really good info sites for civics/swapping, I'm a bit hesitant to believe the stuff I see online, because who's to say if its wrong or not? Also, is the euro accord engine the v6? (would love it if someone had a euro accord/civic swap url)

and thats all THANKS!

Okay, to check out the validity of the curb weight of stock civics, an onwers manual should tell you. The sticker inside the doorjab of any honda (amlost any car) should tell you, and some performance honda engine books and honda repair manauls may tell you (curb weight IS NOT gross vehicle weight, they are 2 different things, you want curn weight). Also, the dealershop servie department may be able to furnish these numbers for you. For the motors, The Summer 2001 Issue of Honda Tuning can tell you the specs as well as what cars most the the listed motors came from (most, not all). The Honda Performance Builders Handbook Vol 1. has some accurate engine spec info also (it lists some curb weights in the back chapter, but you have to know yours honda's pretty well), for the various USDM engines, it doesn't cover any JDM spec motors, but the Honda Tuning will. I am not sure of any webistes off the top of my head, but if you are relucant to beilive us because it's from the web, umm, those sites are web-based too. Also, I have seen plenty of WRONG info in magazines ands books over the years, so that really holds true for everthing. Just because it's in print donesn't make it true, and just cuz it's a website doesn't make it wrong (or right). I am not jumping on you, just making a point. Also, I know the later Euro-Accord Type R, I beilive it was the 2001+, have the same 220HP H22A found in the highest end JDM Preludes (as opossed to the 200HP H22A found in the next tir down JDM preludes and top-tir USDM ones). Sport Compact Car had an article on this car a few years back, I can look up the issue if you really want me to.The F20B was in Euro-Accords before this Euro-Accord Type-R. I hope that helps a bit in your quest.

It probably has to do with the bigger trunk and rear clip. I don't know though, so don't qoute that as the reason, I just know it is. You could always ask Honda why it ended up being that way, lol. Also, if you've every messed with the doors, the 2 door doors feel heavier, they are longer, more metal, so the 4 doors on the sedan would even out there. Like I said, I think it(the little bit of extra weight) comes from the rear clip/trunk. If you've ever compared the coupe and sedan rear sections side by side, you'll see what I mean.

If I were you I would see if I could find a 92-95 civic hatch, one of the lighter models, that has a bad engine but good exterior, that way you won't spend to much. Then swap in a b18b from an integra, these motors aren't that expensive and you will have the option of turboing it later. But that's just me.
