Sticking Throttle Body

I dont know if it is sticking, worn out, dirty or what. Does anyone know of any common problems and cures for Saturns?

See http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t52535.html for ideas, or just read the paragraph below.

I actually fixed the sticking throttle problem this past weekend. I sprayed WD-40 around the throttle return spring, and I sprayed Carb Cleaner into the throttle body, which required pulling the air intake hose off of the throttle body, which required a big pair of pliers. I worked the throttle valve by hand a few times, and now it is much smoother. I added Chevron Techron to my last tank of fuel for good measure.

is the TB stock? or aftermarket. I have a TB from XRC and they have a constant problem of sticking at a high RPM. It's annoying...lol XRC is now out of business...HMMM...wonder why....lol

You can buy for $150 a big-bore throttle body at http://www.saturnmotorsports.com/store/asp/default.asp

Take the TB off & used a TB cleaner such as STP or something like it. Spray the front & back. The back may have a oily dirty build up. Clean very good you may need a brush the clean the back side of the plate. Clean all the air holes and the out side of the TB with the cleaner & replace the gasket. About 8 bucks @ NAPA. Get one anyway, if you don't the old one may tear. This should stop the sticking if it cause by being dirty. the 52mm SPS TB is good. No sticking problems that I know of. Many proforance part. They also have a race team that does well in. Real nice people.

I agree......I had problems with my factory throttle body, but now that I have the SPS one it works like a champ...........Not really worth the money though cause it's only 52mm.....you could take your old one and bore it out to bigger than the SPS one and save $150........just my though

Lightbulb

Depends on when its sticking, if it sticks at "idle" (like if you have trouble pushing the pedal as if it were sticky but once you push it, it stays stable) anyway if its doin it like that then all you need is a few tools ..... depends on year of throttle body.... look where your cable hooks up and you will see where the stop plate hits the body there will be a screw there but the head will be covered by a metal piece or a rubber peace the size a head of a screw remove it using a hole punch... tighten the screw a tiny bit till the problem ends, this is your idle set screw.
