Changing tire size for winter

I own a 2000 Blazer 4WD with P235/70 R15 tires. To get more traction and save the alloy rims, I plan on installing winter tires on 7" steel rims. It's my understanding that ideally the tires should be narrower but of approximately the same diameter which, in my case, would be P225/75R15. However, a lot of tire outlets won't install a change from factory specs. What problems do I face? Should I get an SUV/LT rated tire even though I will be the heaviest thing in the vehicle and nothing's being towed? Would P235/75R15 be OK even though slightly taller?

Best choice would be 215/75-15's at 27.69" versus your 28" 235/70-15's. There no issues running this tire size. Try working with one of our local installers. You can find them by going to:
