McLaren Maintenance
May I confirm what TVRFreak mentioned. It is typically only the major structural (carbon fiber) or serious engine work that needs to be performed exclusively by the factory. Most everything else can be done at a McLaren service center (like A/C upgrades, bigger radiators, etc.)
Other work can be done at the service center but usually is not. Most of the cars that have been resprayed or retaylored have not been done by McLaren or the service centers. In my mind, I don't have a problem with that as long as the work was done with the utmost quality. The interior is more likely an easier task than the paint. There are few shops out there that can properly work with a carbon fiber body. The stripping and primer stages are quite different than a normal steel or even aluminum bodied car.
In the case of Kennedy's car, all the work was performed at the factory, including the paint, I am told. It was quite a bill as you would imagine. Since the car has been here in the US, it has been maintained by a qualified mechanic. I am not certain who was chosen to do the needed paintwork.
