Yeh thats what i've been told also that nissan motors are already turbo prepped.

Ummmm the SR20DE was not made just for the US market, we have it in aus pulsars and even S15 silvias in japan have the SR20DE in the SPEC S models. (My friend has a SR20DE S13 in Melbourne Aus - which is shit by the way)
If the turbo was just taken off the car would drive like shit. To have any sort of driveability the compression on a NA car HAS TO BE RAISED!!! An NA car withe an 8:1 ratio will drive like shit. Need probably at least 10:1 which no factory turbo car has.
As for ur example, I have no idea. They must have at least used a decompression plate or something to make the compression lower.
But I know for a fact, (seen the inside of many DET's and a couple DE's and they are not the same inside).

soooooooooooooorry

i wasn't implying that the sr20de wsa made specifically for the US market, but when nissan brought the sr20de to america, they chose not to bring it's turbo-ed twin with it. but i have to cross you on the issue of it's internals. from every expert on nissan motors that i have talked with and worked on motors with, their contention is that the internals are almost exactly the same. as for your experience, i can say the same as you did for my example. this guy will have to do a lot of tuning and adjustments with his engine before he runs it, but it can easily be done with the sr20de motor.

ill back u up with that comment too.
seems the americans dont know much about the difference between NA and FI sr20 motors.

u COULD turbocharge an NA sr20de but whats the point when there is the sr20det already anyway?

Hehe yeah the sr20vet. But ive got to back the aussies up on this one and im a kiwi so naturally i dont like to lol But the internals or the sr20det and sr20de are different, and it would be a lot wiser and easier to just drop a sr20det into it umm just a quick question, earlier on someone mentioned something about the 200sx being a fwd and that is why it would be better to drop a bluebird engine in it, well in this part of the world all 200sx are rwd and the turbo'd bluebirds are 4wd but the GTIR sr20det puts out more power than the bluebird one so if you want power go for that, but then again over here you can just go out and buy a sr20det rwd 200sx

SR20DET has a Garrett T-28 originally and it's much much too small... I'm gonna put T-04 in and see what happens.... that should last up to 400hp at least

Those are hard to get and expensive. I can't even find a place where they sell them.
